Potty Training pepper

For my most recent birthday , my family decided to get me a potty training bell for pepper. The potty training bell hangs from our door knob just high enough so pepper can reach it.When I first got the bell, pepper looked at it kind of funny and had no clue what it was.Every time she had to go outside to go to use the bathroom,we would ring the bell and say "Potty".Not too long later, she got the idea that she had to ring the bell every time she had to go outside.Eventually every time she wanted to go out, she would ring the bell again and again until someone would come and take her out.Sometimes she will angrily ring the bell. That's when we know she REALLY has to go!Another potty training trick we use, is rewarding her with a small bite sized milk bone treat after she poops outside. When she stares at the treat jar then rings the bell, we know she has to go.

Bath Time!

Today, I gave Pepper a bath with her special hypoallergenic shampoo. She just shrinks when she touches water because of her fluffy coat! The day she came home, she got a bath to get rid of that weird pet store smell, and she didn't seem to mind it at all! But,now that she has been home for about 3 months, things have changed. She wines and cries through out the whole proceses until she gets out of the tub and is fully dried and fluffy again.I try to cheer her up by constantly telling her that she is a good girl and that its all most over! But i don't think that does much at all. When I'm done washing her i take her out and towel dry her a little bit, then i pull out the blow drier and try to work with that.It normally takes about 10 to 15 minuets to  fully dry her. She shakes so much when i put the blow drier near her body! It makes me so sad to see it.When im done drying her, I put her down and watch her run all around the house!

New Blogger!! :)

Hey guys! I'm Nicole, and I'm a new blogger and I'm very excited to start sharing my stories  about certain dogs!! : )I will start out by telling you about my 3 dogs. My oldest dog is named Riker. He is a Rhodesian Ridgback mix,who just turned 4 years old in late June. One of Rikers favorite things to do is to run. He can run, non-stop for 3 miles!!And he also loves to eat!He will eat anything and everything but people food.My middle child is named Troi. She is a black lab/Shepard mix.Troi turned 2 years old in early November.Troi is a tall, athletic and  obnoxious little girl who always wants to be the center of attention. We adopted both Riker and Troi when they were puppies from the S.P.C.A.My youngest is named Pepper.Pepper is a shi-chon.(a shih tzu and bichon frise mix).We got her in late August. She is 5 months old,and is the fluffiest puppy around.Pepper is a couch potato. But she will have her hyper moments!!!All three of my dogs are very different and no one has the same personality or anything in common...but I love them the same amount!!Together,we are best friends!! : )
